Abstract

Bleeding pseudoaneurysms are among the most serious and fatal complications after pancreaticoduodenectomy.Sentinel bleeding after pancreaticoduodenectomy indicates local sepsis and anastomotic dehiscence. Therefore, I think recognition of the significance of “sentinel bleeding” and prompt response may prevent exsanguination. Therapeutic embolization should be the initial procedure. This is technically easier for the patient and the surgeon, and there is less chance of rebleeding in septic field.
