One of the readers pointed out that Figure 1 and 2 of the article published in WJSMRO [1] were same as patient (case 2, figure 4 and 5) of an article subsequently published by the authors in another journal [2]. It was pointed out that no acknowledgement to the WJSMRO article has been made as per the copyright and licensing agreement under which the WJSMRO article was published. This was examined by the editors and found that the similarity is overwhelming and the same images have been reproduced for a different patient. The article was subsequently subjected to plagiarism check and was found to have substantial overlap with the authors previously published article [3] and with other published articles [4-7] with full sentences being copy pasted from them and articles were not cited.
An email was sent to the authors and their institute, only one of the authors replied stating that he is not a co-author in other two publications and is not aware of images being reproduced in another case. Other authors and the institution did not respond to the emails.
The editors after deliberations have decided to retract this article [1] as authenticity of the clinical images published with the article cannot ascertained and for plagiarism. We apologise to our readers and thank them for reporting plagiarism.
